Director of Programs & Business Development, Girls Make Games

Isra Shabir is the Director of Programs and Business Development at Girls Make Games, an initiative dedicated to bridging the gender gap in the games industry. The program has reached over 22,000 girls worldwide since its inception in 2014. Isra recently led GMG’s flagship summer camp which taught 128 junior devs representing 53 cities worldwide. She trained and managed a team of 60 GMG Fellows to deliver the camps successfully. She now leads game dev workshops in partnership with Epic Games and Unity, teaching over 700 students and training 200 teachers globally.

Isra is also the Secretary for the newly formed Girls Make Games Scholarship Fund, a nonprofit providing mentorship and college scholarships to girls and young women pursuing game development. Previously, Isra worked as a software engineer at award-winning healthcare and cybersecurity startups based in New York and Boston. She studied Computer Science at MIT. Isra enjoys playing competitive badminton and her favorite video game is Detroit: Become Human (PS4).
